[Date]
Dear [First name],
The news reached me just yesterday. It threw me off to hear you had had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago.
I hope and pray this letter finds you well.
[Name] and the children have asked me to convey their best wishes to you and to let you know you are in their prayers.
I wish I could be with you in person. Unfortunately, I have had a fall! It's nothing to worry about. It's just that I will be walking at a snail's pace for the next few weeks and have been advised not to travel.
I had planned on paying you a visit next month. I think I will now have to reschedule the trip so that I can be with you no later than by next week.
I still haven't got over the shock of hearing you of all people have had a heart attack. I know of no other friend or acquaintance who kept himself as fit as you did.
You don't smoke like a chimney like I do. You don't drink like a fish like some of the people we know. Your parents are still alive and neither of them has any health problems that I know of.
Fate is sure funny.
Enough said.
As always, I love you and can't wait to see the old [Name] back in action soon.
Call me if you can or save it for next week.
Take care.
