Good Night Letter

Good night.

Two words.

But two words that can mean different things to different people.

When said by a parent, lover or child, they can mean 'I love you'.

When said by a friend, they can mean 'I care about you'.

When said in anger, they can mean 'Go away' or 'I need to be alone'.

When said to someone you hardly know, they can mean 'I respect you because I respect myself and I am glad our paths crossed'.

Two little words that sometimes ask, 'How was your day?'

Two little words that sometimes say, 'I love you and I want you to know that I love you'.

Two little words that sometimes say, 'I don't want the night to end so that we can be together longer'.

Two words.

Good night.

Two words that convey hope that the day gone by made you a better person than you were yesterday.

Two words that convey hope that you approached the day gone by with an open mind and an open heart.

Two words that convey hope that you gave much of yourself and was grateful for whatever little others gave of themselves in the day gone by.

Two words that convey hope that the day gone by made you more deserving of tomorrow.

Good night.

[NOTE: Here, you can include 'Forever yours,' or 'Lots of love,' or 'Take care.' or something similar. What you write depends on how well you know the recipient and the level of intimacy the two of you share.]
