Dear Fellow Teacher,
I hope this letter finds you well.
It is with great pleasure that I am writing you this letter to let you know about the decision of the Teacher Selection Board to hire me as one of the teachers at All Saints High School.
I will be joining the faculty Monday and will be teaching math to Grades 7 through 12.
I can never really step into the shoes of Mr. Full Name, who retires Friday after serving the school for close to 35 years. He is widely known as one of America's foremost mathematicians. The reputation and the respect that he enjoys as a math teacher are legendary.
In my defense, all I can say is that I have been a math teacher all my teaching life, and hold a doctorate in applied mathematics and a master's degree in curriculum studies & teacher education.
The headmistress tells me that I may also be required to sub for some of the teachers. I look forward to be of assistance and discussing their expectations.
If you are not one of them, I would appreciate any advice you can direct my way to help me be at least a satisfactory colleague as well as a replacement for Mr. Last name.
I look forward to meeting with you soon.
Sincerely,
